About this blog

This blog is put together by a team of three students studying Communication for Development at Malmö University. Nina Eneroth and David Ersson from Sweden and Gillian Rose in Boston, USA. This blog looks at how community media, particularly community radio,  is used by local communities; the impact it can have particularly during times of natural disaster; how financial challenges influence how community media is used and where community radio stations fit in this fast-changing world of new technology. We will look at a few case studies that are illustrative of general trends and try and gauge what the future is. The group (Community Media Group C) felt that community radio remains an important medium for communication in many countries, particularly in the Global South.
