On the 8th of November our class visited ISU, which is situated right opposite MAH library Orkanen in central Malmö.
We were welcomed by Clara Norell, Process Facilitator at ISU, at the Helix building.
As Clara studied in the first year SUM at Malmö University, she was very interested in getting to know the background of all students. After an introduction round, she started presenting the work of ISU.
ISU began as a 3 year project called SEKUM, which later became a continuing joint venture between The City of Malmö and Malmö University. The Institute deals with sustainability in its broad sense, including ecological, economical, social and as a new fourth dimension also cultural issues. Its main objectives is to facilitate and initiate cooperation between researchers/students and the city administration. Therefore it can be seen as a bridge that contacts the world of science and the world of practice. This is achieved by communicating, organising events, creating contacts, initiating projects and dialogue.
Main events are the monthly Urban Drinks, an after-work bar mingle, and the Breakfast-Meetings, with renowned lecturers and discussions as well as good food.
As a class, we were invited to join the next meetings, the facebook group, and the newsletter.
