Welcome to our final ComDev seminar this term in conjunction with the Degree Project examination!
The schedule for the degree project examination is now online and you are welcome to join us in person and online for 15 exciting presentations and discussions that wrap up two years of studying ComDev between Thursday morning and Saturday afternoon (4-6 June).
Next Thursday afternoon, 4 June from 1-4p.m. (Swedish time) we will have the opportunity to discuss two interesting and relevant topics – social capital and open data – in the context of ComDev with Zara Rahman and Anabella Maria Tarnovan.
Zara has been researching open and big data and feminism in the context of development; Anabella is currently a visiting professor at ComDev as part of her EU-funded post-doctoral research.
Both will present ongoing research for about 45 minutes and there will be plenty of time to discuss after the presentation
Anabella Maria Târnovan: Network Communication and Social Capital in the Digital Age. Towards Critical Approaches of Social Capital
Anabella Maria Târnovan is currently Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, „Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, Romania and Postdoctoral Researcher at the „Gh. Zane” Institute for Economic and Social Research, Romanian Academy. Dr. Târnovan’s areas of research and interest are: social capital, social media, Internet and society, political economy of communications, critical theory and communication for social change and development. Her current research projects focus on the analysis of the implications of social media and network communication for social capital, social change and development.
Zara Rahman: Data in international development: trends and patterns in ICT4D
Zara is an open data researcher based in Berlin, Germany
