Dear ComDev,
I just heard about this fantastic programme and would very much like to apply, but I know that the application deadline for the Spring semester has already passed. I have a swedish personnummer and am an EU citizen but was educated in the United States. Is there any possibility at all that I would be able to still apply (and find a way to catch up with the missed coursework if I do get in)?
Thanking you in advance,
Yee-Yin
Hi Yee-Yin
I am afraid the spring term has already started but you can definitely still apply for the Communication for Development masters programme starting in September 2011. Applications for Swedish and EU Citizens opens on March 15th.
You can find more information about admissions here
http://www.mah.se/english/Student/Student-services/Admissions-Office/
Or visit our course site here where you will find a link to apply. All university admissions in Sweden goes through studera.nu so you will be directed to their site.
http://www.edu.mah.se/HACFD/
If you are an EU citizen then it is best to wait until after March 15th to make your application.
Thank you for showing an interest in the course and good luck with your application.
Hugo
Hi,
I´m a danish student, and I´m very interested in your courses at Communication for development. I already started on my master, so I won’t be able to do all 60 points. Therefor I want to ask if its possible do the two first terms as an exchange student (taking only 30 ECTS points)? I haven´t been able to find any information about exchange students on the web page.
Thanks,
Rikke
Hi Rikke
Thanks for your interest i ComDev at Malmö. Yes taking some individual courses is something that you should be able to do. I suggest that you contact our director of administration Cecilia Hultman cecilia.hultman@mah.se to find out how you should apply for individual courses. Please copy me in on the email hugo.boothby@mah.se so that i can follow the conversation.
all the best

Dears,
can I ask you a simple question if it is hard to learn ComDev programme? Are there students who started it and didn’t manage to finish to get a Master Degree?
Thank you and best regards,
Juste
Hi Juste
Thank you for your interest in ComDev. Like most Masters programme Communication for Development has high academic standards and the assignments can sometimes be demanding, but we have a team of dedicated staff that support students through their studies and try and help them get the most from the course.
Unfortunately like most academic programmes some the participants do not complete the prgramme often because they are trying to combine their studies with work and family commitments that can make finding time for study difficult.
all the best
Hugo
Hi,
I am interested in applying for the Communication for Development programme that starts in spring 2012. And I am wondering if it is correct that the deadline for applying is as early as 2011-08-15?
I am also wondering if the programme starts in autumn 2012?

Dear ComDev,
I have submitted a late application for spring semester 2012 (MAH -32054) which has not yet been processed. Now it seems as if another course for spring semester 2012 (MAH – 32028) is open for application. I am not sure if there are two courses starting in spring semester? Does it make sense to apply for the other course as well? I would really like to start the course in spring as I think its a great programme! So I would be very thankful for some clarification regarding the two programmes listed on universityadmissions.se.
Thanking you in advance,
Rosalia
Hi Rosalia

I am sorry the Swedish application with it’s multiple rounds of application is not the simplest I hope you find someone within the admissions department that can help.

Hi,
I am Elnur from Azerbaijan, working in UNICEF in capacity of C4D officer, dealing with strategic communication for behaviour and social change, bring development communication capacity to state civil servants. Just year ago, I applied and got a notification on placement (629) and then, I did not get any e-mail or response to my inquire on what should I do next? I did not get any e-mail of whether I passed or not, if not, what was the reason.
I am very much interested in the course, as I am heavily involved and practicing the C4D since 1998 working in various international organization, including UNICEF.
I would highly appreciate your feedback on my status of admission and should I re-apply or what would be your recommendations.
Thanks
Hi Elnur
I am afraid it sounds like you were on the reserve list number 629. The last few years we have had a very high number of applications and have not been able to offer places to all that have applied. The course is still running and if you are still interested in studying with us then I suggest that you make another application. If you want to find out more about our application procedures then I suggest you contact the admissions department admissions@mah.se
Many thanks
Hugo
Hej, jag har sökt in till ComDev i vår och har en fråga angående studietakten. Finns det möjlighet att ta examen på kortare tid eller måste man hålla sig till till den planerade studietakten?
Hi Judith
Thanks for your question. I am afraid you must follow the ComDev programme as it is offered. It may be possible to study some parts of the course full time rather than part time but this is something we are trying finalize at the moment so I cannot give any guarantee.
As I am sure you can understand we have to have a structure to the course and cannot accept assignments as and when students have competed them.

Hi there,
I am very interested in finding out more about Malmo University and the Communication for Development Masters programme. Is it possible for me to request a hard copy of the relevant prospectus to be posted to me here in the UK? I haven’t been able to find the correct link to do this on the university website.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Sarah

Dear Hugo,
I am finishing my bachelor studies in communicaiton sciences and would like to study ComDev master in Malmo. I will try with the late applicaiton but in case it’s too late or I don´t succed I would like to ask if it´s possible to start studying this program in the Spring semester? Or it’s onlyt starting in September once a year?
Also, I would like to know how are the exams being organised? If a student is attending course by distance, can he/she take the exams in the same way or the presence in Malmo during the exam session is obligatory?
Thank you very much,
Vaida

Hi,
I am considering applying for a place on the course beginning September 2013. I live in England and was planning on moving to Sweden if I was offered a place. However at times the website describes the course as being ‘internet based distance education’. Does this mean that it would not be worth moving to Sweden?
Hi Matthew
Sorry a bit late with my reply. ComDev is an integrated distance learning programme. We have 2 intensive two day seminars a term that usually take place here in Malmö. Students are encouraged to take part in the seminars in person but apart from that all other tuition is delivered via our online learning management system. You would not need to move to Sweden to study this programme, although many of our students do live in Sweden and combine the course with work, family or other study commitments.
/Hugo
Hi,
I am Mumtaz, I have been working in communication for last 5 years, I want to pursue my further education in C4D. Is there any scholarship available for students from developing countries?
Thanks and Best Regards
Hello guys,
Have you any info regarding applying process for spring semester – 2014?
Thanks,
Hi Genanta
All applications for the Communication for Development Masters Programme are handled centrally. You can check with our admissions office for more information http://www.mah.se/english/Contact/Admissions-Office/
or it will be announced here when the admissions for Spring 2014 are open http://edu.mah.se/en/Program/HACFD
Hello!
I was a student of the 2008 C4D course intake, and could not complete it due to multiple work and family responsibilities. However, I now have a changed personal situation and wish to re-continue my studies with the course, and am looking for advice/guidance on how I may do so. Would be grateful to receive an opportunity to discuss.
Many thanks!
Hi Sharad. Please email us. Best regards MIcke
Dear Hugo Boothby,
I am asking to advise me about three confusion matters as follows;
First, I’ve already found that through the “www.universityadmissions.se” this program is still “Open for late application”, So could you please tell me which date is the spring deadline for ComDev program?
Second, the “www.universityadmissions.se” shows ComDev program has not tuition fee for this Application code: MAH-70100, but in the ComDev website it has tuition fee for Non-European, please let me know about it .
Third, I am about to finish my MBA in Malaysia, but my bachelor degree is Biology. I want to know that am I eligible for this program or not?
Many Thanks in advance,
Soroush
Dear Soroush,
The spring deadline is 15 April 2014 for admission to the 2014 Autumn semester, unfortunately the programme is not open for late application.
ComDev has an admission fee for non-EU students, total fee is 80,000 SEK. To be eligible for the ComDev programme, you need a BA or equivalent. Hope these answers help.
Best,
Rebecca
I am very interested in applying for this course. I am currently completing a Masters in Journalism and will be eligible to start from 2015. I’m wondering if there is a start date at this time and when the application opens and closes. I also studied in Australia (although have EU citizenship). I couldn’t find anything to say what I would need to document that I have suitable English ability or will be degrees be sufficient proof? Thank you. The course looks fantastic.
How much does the programme cost?
ComDev has an admission fee for non-EU students, total fee is 80,000 SEK
Dear ComDev,
I can see in the website that the pace of the Master Programme is 50%, and therefore it lasts 2 years.
Would it be possible to attend and finish the same programme in one year, with 100% pace? (I have already been accepted but I would rather do it full time instead of part-time, if possible)
Thank you in advance,
Anna
Dear Anna,
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, the course structure does not allow for full-time studies as the courses are sequenced across 4 semesters. Looking forward to meeting you soon! Tobias on behalf of the ComDev team.
Dear ComDev,
I would be very interested in applying for your programme, starting in September 2015. As background: I have been working in a communications role in a large international organisation for the past 11 years, hold some communications qualifications and a university diploma in management.
Can you please let me know whether I qualfy, whether I’m too late and the procedure to follow,
Thank you very much.
Kind regards,
Mary
Dear Mary,
It is too late to apply for the September 2015 course start. The entire admission process is handled by a central agency in Sweden and ComDev is not involved in the admission process. You can find all the necessary information here: https://www.universityadmissions.se/intl/start .The window to apply for the January 2016 course opens in September. Given your background you may also be interested in our 15ECTS ‘Advances’ course (https://wpmu.mah.se/comdev/comm-edu/). More information on the next course which also starts in January 2016 will become available at the beginning of the new term in September. Tobias on behalf of the ComDev team.
Dear ComDev team,
I’m really fascinated by your program and I applied for the autumn’s semester but didn’t get the chance to be part of it .. I’m applying again for spring 2016 semester and would love to attend the 15th anniversary event to get in touch with alumni and teachers ….
Is that possible?
Thanks in advance
Hiba
Hi I have been accepted to the spring semester 2016 but wish to defer my entrance to autumn 2016. I have received the deferal form from the university, but not sure who to send it to. Please advise
Please contact our course administrator Åsa Ulemark (asa.ulemark(AT)mah.se)
Hello,
I am a new student starting the masters in ComDev on January 16th. I will be doing this course by distance and need to access the required reading list asao – when I click on the syllabus on your site it comes up as an error page. I have found reading lists but there are so many start dates its not clear which applies to me!
Can you forward the list of reading for the first semester please, as it will be studied in each topic/module. Ordering books online takes time so I want to set this up asap.
Thank you,
Nicole
Hi Nicole. Look at the Course start guide – Spring 2017 just above the Syllabus link. There will you find a section for New Students starting spring 2017 and a literature list with the most important books for the first semester. https://wpmu.mah.se/comdev/comdev-reading-list-ccma-spring-2017/
Thank you for pointing out the broken link. It is now working again.
Best regards Micke
