Context: An alternative approach to visualizing my list of publications.

Description: The dataset itself (the publication list) is in focus, with properties applied as filters in the left-hand column to modify the selection dynamically. I am not entirely clear on exactly how the filters should be interacted with, but one idea may be to use the left mouse button for activating and the right mouse button for deactivating. Brushing with the mouse button depressed, and instant feedback in the dataset, would be a sensible technique to support.

Interesting: The combination of two views on the dataset – the list itself and the chronological plot – seems to work rather well visually and interactively.

Inspired by: The seminal work on dynamic queries at Maryland in the early 1990s.
