This blog is the collaborative production of four students enrolled in Malmö University’s MA in Communication for Development.

Our raison d’être is to explore the myriad relationships between new media activism and social change, and the effects those relationships exert on cultural and political conditions.

This is clearly a spectacularly broad field of inquiry, so we’ve adopted Lievrouw’s five-part typology of media activism as a means of winnowing and structuring our thoughts.

We’ve further chosen mobilisation as our unifying thematic concern, treating that term not just as an academic or theoretical construct, but as a frame within which to describe the physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional movements of individuals and ideas in the internet age.
